6 June 2026 marked a new beginning for the Chapel of Kristus Aman - KA took the Ecological Parish Pledge in response to the Church's urgent call to care for our common home, first expressed in Pope Francis's encyclical Laudato Si' (2015) and again in his apostolic exhortation Laudate Deum (October 2023). The pledge was also made in line with the Ecological Diocese Pledge signed by all 9 Bishops of Malaysia on 12 July 2023. At the end of Mass that evening, the Pledge was officially signed by Fr William Michael, Chapel Administrator of KA, on behalf of the parishioners. The Chapel pledges to Go Green, to Save Energy, to Cut Down Single-Use Plastics, to Reuse, Reduce and Recycle, to Save Water, and to Live Low Carbon.
The day had begun at 9am with a formation session on Ecological Spirituality and Ecological Leadership led by Fr Andrew Manickam, Ecclesiastical Assistant for the Creation Justice Ministry (CJM), Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur.
Later that afternoon, Refiller Mobile was welcomed at KA. As Malaysia's first zero-waste refill store on wheels, Refiller Mobile brought refillable household, personal care and snacks products not only for parishioners, but also served as a service to the surrounding neighbourhood.
