On 29 March 2026, the MERT (Medical Emergency Response Team) ministry organised an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training for volunteers and parishioners. This training is a first step towards equipping volunteers and parishioners with life-saving skills. The training was conducted by Mr. Kevin Peter Ryapan and Mr. Nalliah Vellasamy, First Aid Trainers from St John Ambulance of Malaysia. 40 participants attended the training, which was divided into 3 parts.
The first part was a slide presentation. The second part was a hands-on practice of hands only CPR with dummies. To simulate a real life medical emergency, 2 participants per team practised on a dummy, under the supervision of both St John trainers.
The 3rd part was a demo by Mr. Kevin on how to use the AED device. In Kristus Aman, the AED device is located at the chapel floor. The training ended with a presentation of tokens of appreciation to the trainers by Dr. Patricia Lim, MERT chairperson.
