Melissa Teresa Neoh Hi! May the peace of Christ be yours always. Thank you for stopping by! My name is Melissa Teresa Neoh, born in Penang, raised in KL. What I can tell you about myself is that I am just an ordinary Catholic girl that has a Father who calls me Princess. I will be representing Kristus Aman Chapel to go for the World Youth Day 2016 in Poland!
WHAT AM I GOING TO DO IN POLAND?
World Youth Day (WYD) 2016 will take place starting on the 26th-31st of July, 2016 in Poland. I will be going under the Youth Arise International (YAI) group led by Jude Antoine. The drafted program would be to attend the Arise International Festival (22-24 July, 2016) followed by WYD itself. Following that we will be going around Poland to do mission work. Here's a gist of what's going at YAI:
- Daily Eucharistic celebration & Eucharistic Adoration, Holy Hour processions & Benediction
- Talks & workshops conducted by international speakers
- Praise & Worship led by well known Catholic Artists & music ministries
- Worship concert in the main city square
- Door to door visits with the Polish community
- Practical street outreach & one-to-one evangelization
WHY DO I WANT TO GO THERE?
In the year 2013, my God brothers, Chris and John had the opportunity to attend WYD 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. To hear stories of how life-changing that event was made me want to attend a WYD at least once in my lifetime. They have brought their experience back to their home, church and ministries, and in the process have touched many lives. All of this has inspired me to do the same.
I’m so excited to see how the Lord is going to move throughout this entire journey. It is not just about going to Poland to attend the World Youth Day celebrations, but it’s the preparation beforehand that is going to make this all the more life changing. We will be having formations (talks, creative workshops, etc.) every month starting this January, all the way up to June to prepare us for this amazing experience.
WYD 2016 will be a platform for young (and old) Catholics to create lasting friendships across the globe and with that continue to build up the kingdom of God here on Earth. It is so exciting to meet new people! Not to mention, to be able to see and hopefully meet the Holy Father, Pope Francis, is beyond words! I would be sure to share my experience with all of you when I am back and I pray that my encounter will touch the hearts of our dear parishioners in the Chapel of Kristus Aman.
